Dressmaking and sewing courses

I am offering to a limited number of students the chance to learn dressmaking and sewing; whether you are after lifelong skills like making or mending your own clothes, to someone pursuing a professional career, my lessons cater for both.

*All the prices are on a 1-to-1 basis; for group lessons, just add £10 per person per hour.

All classes are held in my lovely studio in a Manchester city centre mill and include the usage of patterns, tools, sewing machines as well as basic materials *Feel free to inquire if you would like sessions tailored to your needs.

dressmaking lesson

2 hour-long sessions on your chosen subject

£60 in total, everything included (for more than one student, please inquire)

Subjects Include: dressmaking, sewing, cutting, bespoke pattern making, fittings, design , fashion illustration, fashion upcycling...or you can just come along with a design of your choice and I will guide you through all the steps to make your garment, teaching you techniques that you can continue developing on your own time.

beginners dressmaking crash course

4 x 2-hour long sessions, 8 hour long, on q 1-to-1 basis. £240 all included (for more than one student, please inquire)

 

Learn to make a shift dress to measure. Take measurements, choose the right pattern, alter it,  cut the dress out. Use a sewing machine to sew darts, insert a zip, hem, face armholes and neckline and finish the dress to a high standard. Learn the right way of doing things from the beginning! I have been teaching this for over a decade with success. Includes (materials, patterns, tools, machines)

 

men's shirt making crash course

5 x 2-hour long sessions, 10 hours total, on a 1-to-1 basis. £300 all included (for more than one student, please inquire)

 

Learn to make a men's shirt. Take measurements, choose the right pattern, alter it if needed,  cut the shirt out. Use a sewing machine to sew darts, sleeves, collar, hem,  placket with buttons and buttonholes and sew a pocket to a high standard. Includes (materials, patterns, tools, machines)
